Damon will regret it- Jim Caple
By signing with New York, Damon destroyed his legacy in Boston.
Despite his role in winning the long-coveted World Series, he instantly becomes
dead to Red Sox fans for going over to the dark side. He's also going to hear
boos in New York. His signing doesn't begin to help the Yankees' considerable
pitching needs. Unless the Yankees solve those needs, they will struggle and
Damon will become their scapegoat.
Damon will regret this. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but
as soon as he gets his tires slashed in Boston.

Jesus Has Become Evil!
Damon Signs With Yankees, 4 Years 52 Million
The Yankees might be the bigger idiot here. Damon is a great
player but he seems to be on the downside of his career and shouldn't have
justified anything much more then the 4 Years $40 Million the Sox had reportedly
offered him. Again the Yankees continue to overpay for big name free
agents. When will they learn? The Sox will hopefully remedy this by
making moves that will make the team younger and still remain competitive.
Don't get me wrong this is a very tough loss to our biggest competitor and he is
irreplaceable with what is available in the market. However, not matching this
contract is probably the right thing to do for the long term. They Yankees get
better in 06..The Sox get worse in 06 but into 07,08,09 I think the Yankees will
have a center field problem.
Anyway, thanks Johnny for the good times. We would wish
you luck but instead we hope you literally "break a leg" for this one.
You will always be 1 of the 25 from 04'

Sox to Meet With Johnny Damon Tonight- Boston Herald
Peter Gammons on GM opening-
There have been some comical suggestions, but Hoyer is
older than Epstein when Theo got the job, more experienced and has been
Epstein's right-hand man for his tenure as Boston GM. He also understands the
requirements of owner John Henry, who is a great boss and not going to allow the
franchise to drift to mediocrity.
