White Sox & Astros to face off in World Series

Thank you again for this, one year later:

One year ago tonight the Sox culminated the greatest comeback in the history of baseball by defeating the New York Yankees after winning four straight games.

One year ago tonight I danced in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra after the Sox made us believers.  This was one of the greatest moments of my life:

Random Thoughts As We Look to Next Season
by Don Hyslop

Since the Sox season has ended we all have had time to reflect over their demise and understand that injuries and bullpen problems contributed to the failure to defend their title. To that we can add the Payton debacle and the wearing down of Varitek and Mueller. Also the failure of Millar to recapture what he has provided in the past. All that being said what is there to look forward to for 2006. I know BrooklynSoxFan will have his own views out shortly but if I may be so bold to share mine with you here are some things I would like to see happen for next year.
1. Resign Theo ASAP. He should be resigned before the World Series comes to an end. If this does not happen we know problems will be brewing on Yawkey Way.
2. Keep Manny! I do not want Cameron or Beltran as replacement parts for him and Damon
3. Offer Damon a three year-$30 million deal and if that is not good enough look to make a trade packaging a couple of prospects and someone off the present roster (not Lester or Hansen) for someone like Tori Hunter
4. Try to sign Burnett and Wagner to help the pitching staff and perhaps try to deal for Ryan Howard or someone like that for first base
5. Give youth a chance: Make room for Youkilis, Pedroia, Delcarmen and Hansen on next years 25 man roster
6. Extend Tito's contract by 2 more years.
7. Have Larry Luccino be less inflamatory with some of his comments especially those he makes on the radio

``I played great baseball all year, and I played like a dog the last five days. I can't put it into words. This is as low as it gets. remaining series.

Clement gets shell shocked as Sox lose game one 14-2

Don't get too down over this one as it was forecasted as the toughest game of the series for us. The Sox will win 2 or possibly 3 of the next three games.

In support of the Red Sox and to jinx the White Sox I have thrown out all of my pairs of plain white socks and will be wearing only red ones for the entire ALDS. You don't have to go that far, maybe just sacrifice a pair or two to the baseball gods for good luck.

The last three World Series champions have been wild card winners.

Saturday 10/1

Damn Yankees

Yanks win division crown, Cleveland loses ensuring at least a one game playoff with Boston for wild card.

Win on Sunday and we are in, Lose and we play Monday for W.C.

Yankees win 8-4

Win and we're in. Simple as that!

(Not to be a sore sport but assuming the Red Sox win the wild card I would rather take my chances with Chicago in the ALDS then the Angels. A win tomorrow and we end up with an identical record to New York, sort of a hollow way to be crowned Division Champs anyway but that's just how it is.)

More later.......
