Yankee Fan wins one day naming rights for Fleet Center
BOSTON (AP) — The arena is in downtown Boston, the heart of Red Sox Nation. There couldn't be a bigger insult than to name it after the captain of the hated New York Yankees
But that's just what Manhattan lawyer Kerry Konrad aims to do next Tuesday after his $2,325 bid won an eBay auction giving him the one-day naming rights to the FleetCenter.
Konrad's proposed name: the Derek Jeter Center, after the Yankee shortstop.- Aricle from Mass Live

Schill not completely happy with yesterdays session
``I'm not upset, but I just didn't feel like I expected to feel,'' said Schilling, who led the majors with 21 wins during his first season with the Sox. ``It didn't hurt, (but) I always expect it to be better than it is. Rings are a definite
Yanks will look on while Sox raise banner & get rings!
"I'm sure I'm not going to help them hand them out," Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter said to laughter at New York's camp in Tampa. "But they deserve it. I'm sure they've been looking forward to this for a long time. So let them do it." - AP Report

WOUNDED KNEE: Third baseman Bill Mueller said he feels "wonderful" after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Feb. 7. He participated in Tuesday's first full-squad workout but did not take ground balls. "I didn't feel like (the knee) was going to be able to handle 162 games," he said. "In order to be not high maintenance for the season, I just cleaned it up and I had time to do that." The surgery was done to relieve swelling in the knee. --Ulman A/P Article on Boston.com

Sox fans ruthlessly call talk shows, front office, & talk at water
cooler. Sox Brass gives in, rings will be given out opening day!
Tom Werner:
There's a lot of debate about the proper time to do it," he said Monday, "but I think the fans deserve to see it on opening day, but that's just one man's opinion."
"The Yankees can always sit in the clubhouse," Werner said. "It's not going to be a very long ceremony, so we care about doing things in a first-class fashion and we'll do it appropriately."
Werner & Lucchino to meet today to put the stamp on it!
(I know the article and reports say it is not 100% confirmed until a meeting today but the fact that Werner was willing to make this statement on record after all the debate that has gone on indicates that it will happen. No owner in their right mind would be so stupid to make this comment after all the controversy that has gone on and not deliver. I can't wait to see the Yankee faces as the rings are passed out home opening day!)

Nixon in reference to Arod announcing he has a six hour routine that begins at 6 a.m.- ``He said he's doing all this while 600 players are still in their bed,'' Nixon began. ``I said, `What's wrong with me taking my kid to school? I'm not a deadbeat dad, you clown.``I work out for three hours in the weight room, and I hit for another two or three hours (later in the day),'' continued Nixon The clown reference came up again, when Nixon talked about reading what Rodriguez was going to do the next time he hit an infield dribbler intercepted by a Sox pitcher. ``He said the next time, (instead of slapping the ball out of Bronson Arroyo's hands he's going to run him over,'' Nixon said. ``It's like, OK. FBI knew about steroid use
Told MLB execs. but nothing was done
Special Agent Greg Stejskal, who oversees the Bureau's Ann Arbor, Mich., office, said he told baseball security chief Kevin Hallinan that Jose Canseco and many other players were using illegal anabolic steroids. Stejskal's warning was based on evidence gathered during a far-reaching steroid investigation he conducted in the '90s, but the agent says the lords of the game did not act on the information. "I alerted Major League Baseball back in the time when we had the case, that Canseco was a heavy user and that they should be aware of it. . . . I spoke to the people in their security office. Hallinan was one of the people I spoke to," Stejskal told The News. - Daily News Article

MLB buys Tickets.com
Josecanseco.com selling a 2000 World Series ring
Josecanseco.com has a 2000 Yankees W.S. ring for sale
What's interesting about this is not even just the news of the ring on this site. What is strange is that you can change the quantity when you try to check out. In fact I upped the amount of rings I was interested in to 500 and it still allowed me to checkout. Unfortunately my credit card wouldn't allow this large of a transaction. I think josecanseco.com would be in a strange predicament if you wanted a quantity of 500 year 2000 World Series Rings never mind just say even 3 or 4 of them.

Canseco Tells All
It's old news at this point in time that half the league was on the juice (my guess is somewhere in the range that 25%-40% used one point in time. If you can convince otherwise let me know). I don't want to waste too much energy talking about the recent "tell all" by Canseco as we just need to move on from the pointing fingers of "who did what". Instead of harping on the juice topic and living in the past we should focus our energy on a positive message for the future. As far as I am concerned the foot was finally put down this year, and that's that. You get caught with it in your locker tomorrow and its a difference story. I am not saying we grandfather clause all the past users with a pardon but we can't buy into the finger pointing either. Hopefully a lesson has been learned by all about steriod use. It's bad, it's wrong, and it will ruin your reputation if caught. If you want to read the story about Jose Canseco's tell all that is being released here is some info from ESPN
Please note we will be making juice jokes this season. We just don't think its fair to single players out or tattle tale on your fellow comrades in a for profit publication like this. Call every player in the league into a courtroom and then we will listen up a little more.

Eagles are Footballs' Red Sox
There have been a few articles lately including one today by Shuagnessy comparing the Eagles fans to Red Sox fans in a few ways. Both have great fans without a doubt. You have to respect Eagles fans, they may be one of, it not the most diehard football fans in the country. They are like Red Sox fans in the way that they kind of scare you they are so passionate about their team. They will protect their house any way they have to just like a Sox fan will. You need to walk on eggshells a bit when you talk to a Philly fan about their sport. I have a lot of respect for this passion.
"When I bought the Eagles I quickly realized it was like buying the Red Sox in Philadelphia," said Lurie (Eagles owner). "It's an amazing football city where they live and die for their football -- very comparable to Boston fans and the Red Sox. You've got two franchises that haven't won a lot of championships, but fan bases who deserve it. The fans follow every detail of the organization. Everything. It's just a love for the sport that those fans in each city have. Baseball in Boston and football in Philly."- Article today by Dan Shuaghnessy
Sip Our Wine and drink our tea!
In Boston football mentality has changed. It is not like baseball where most fans simply hate on any opponent we are facing and go to battle in the trenches dirt dog style to protect our pride. With the Pat's we are confident of victory week after week. We have been outright spoiled by this success and have become snobbish when it comes to our boys of Foxboro. In fact many football outings on Sundays no longer serve beer & chips. The local flavor has upgraded to wine and cheese. Many drink with their pinky's out and talk about the year and vineyard of their beverage. The attire is no longer a Seymour jersey and ripped jeans. It is a sweater with a collared shirt underneath and nicely pressed khakis. We are fans of a dynasty in the making and will drink out wine & sip our tea with pride. Spoiled or not we have a lot to be proud of on the gridiron!
Be cool when the Pats win Sunday
This isn't something we haven't seen in 86 years. Not that it isn't special as hell because its very big...huge in fact. However this time around stay home with your family or crew and celebrate in class. No reason to hit the streets in bedlam and tip cars over or be a fool. Walk away from the crowds and be civilized. Use your heads so we don't have to deal with tragedy on Monday!
Same goes for the city of Philadelphia... If they pull this one off its going to be even more of a wild scene there. So pass the word on the the City of Brotherly Love as well.
